It is with great sadness that the

brothers and sisters of IAFF Local

998 anounce the passing of our

     brother Michael C. Reilly

Mike was killed in the line of duty Sunday

    August 27th 2006 battling a 3 - alarm fire

as a nozzle man on FDNY’s Engine 75.

Also killed was FDNY Lt Howard Carpluk.

Prior to joining FDNY in April 2006, Mike

was a member of Local 998 and the

    Stratford Fire Department. Mike

    graduated from the Connecticut Fire

Academy in 2003 and was stationed at Company 1, Headquarters

2750 Main St. where he remained until put into active duty with his

Marine unit in Iraq. Upon his return he resumed his roll as firefighter

for the town on Engine 3 at Lordship station. In the spring of 2006

Mike accepted a position with the FDNY and started the academy

April 11th 2006 where he served as squad leader and graduated in

the top 10 of his class. After graduation he was assigned to Engine 75

“The Animal House” in the South Bronx. Michael, from all of us at the

Stratford Fire Department you were a firefighter, a brother, and best

of all a friend. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. From the members

of the Stratford Fire Department, our heartfelt prayers go out to the

families of Michael, Lt. Carplunk and our brothers and sisters of the

    FDNY

GREATER LOVE HAS NO ONE THAN THIS; THAT SOMEONE LAY DOWN HIS

LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS. John 15:13
